2020 Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association Conference
BATON ROUGE - On Wednesday and Thursday, January 22 and 23, the Louisiana Recreation and Parks Association (LRPA) held their annual conference at the Hilton Capitol Center, welcoming many parks & recreation professionals from across the state and also representatives from various vendors and service providers.
Louisiana State Parks had a booth as did the consultant team conducting the update for the 2020 SCORP. Chad Danos and Jason Landrem of DDG are pictured below. Their purpose was to meet and inform as many recreation professionals as possible over the 2-day conference about the SCORP and the importance of participating in the Providers Survey.
Additionally, the consultants provided a continuing education session entitled “Maximizing the SCORP with Planning and Public Engagement to Get the Best Parks Possible”. You may view and download this presentation from the link at the bottom of this page. Chad Danos, a landscape architect with Duplantis Design Group in Baton Rouge began the session by covering the “planning” component of the SCORP, beginning with a historical overview, discussing the funding process, touching on park design, and ending with the successful realization of new park amenities in our communities.
Urban planner James Taylor of Franklin Associates followed, providing a refresher course on public engagement techniques and how to ensure the design and programming of your parks benefit from a rich process and meaningful input from community residents and park users.
